What is MAP Therapy?

As a psychotherapist, I take a holistic approach to mental health. That's why I incorporate physical activity into some of my therapy sessions. MAP Therapy, which stands for Movement & Active Psychology, combines talk therapy therapy with physical activity.

I that find Active Therapy works best for pre-teens, teens or young adults who benefit from a more stimulated session rather than sitting on an office couch. Whether we use basketball, tennis, or jogging, these activities combined with talk therapy increases the chance for psychological methods to be successful while the mind and body are stimulated.

Physical activity is a crucial component of maintaining good mental health. As a psychotherapist, I often recommend exercise to my clients as a way to improve their overall wellbeing.

Physical activity has been shown to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, and can even boost self-esteem and confidence. Exercise is a natural mood-booster that can increase endorphins - the 'feel-good' chemicals in our brains. It doesn't have to be intense or time-consuming either - even a short walk or light stretching can make a big difference.
